چکیده

Objective: Obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSA) is a disease of obstructive apnea or hypopnea caused by repeated partial complete collapse the upper airway during sleep. The inspiratory part flow-volume curve (F-V curve) can be used as an auxiliary means to evaluate obstruction in adults. This study ability F-V predict OSA and explore indicators related Methods: There were 332 patients included this cross-sectional study, who accompanied snoring, daytime sleepiness other symptoms, with suspicion OSA. According nocturnal polysomnography, subjects distributed into mild moderate group, severe group non-OSA group. A pulmonary function test was collect subjects’ spirometry curves. Results: no significant difference variety indices derived from between normal subjects, including 25% flow rate, middle 75% peak forced rate first second. parameters significantly correlated weight, age sex subjects. Conclusion: These findings suggest that cannot abnormalities syndrome.

Inspiratory flow-volume curve in snoring patients with and without obstructive sleep apnea.

We analyzed the flow-volume curves of 50 patients with complaints of snoring and daytime sleepiness in treatment at the Pneumology Unit of the University Hospital of Brasília. The total group was divided into snorers without obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) (N = 19) and snorers with OSA (N = 31); the patients with OSA were subdivided into two groups according to the apnea/hypopnea index (AHI): AHI...

Flow-volume curve abnormalities and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.

Recent reports have suggested that flow volume curve abnormalities may be of interest in the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea syndromes by showing either extrathoracic airway obstruction (ratio of expiratory flow to inspiratory flow at 50 percent of forced vital capacity [FEF50/FIF50] exceeding 1) or upper airway fluttering (indicated by a sawtooth aspect on the mid-half of the inspiratory ...

Physiopathology of obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome.

The physiopathology of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome is multifactorial. Gender and obesity status, as well as genetic, anatomic, and hormonal factors, together with ventilatory drive, interact in a diverse manner in the physiopathology and clinical expression of the disease. Obesity is the main risk factor, since increases in body mass index, visceral fat, and neck circumference are strong p...

Supra-Epiglottic Upper Airway Volume in Elderly Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea Hypopnea Syndrome

OBJECTIVE Small upper airway measurements areas and high body mass index are recognized risk factors for obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) in non-elderly populations; however, there is limited information regarding elderly patients. We evaluated whether upper airway volume is associated with OSAS and OSAS treated with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment and whether BMI is...
